The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, will meet the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, later on Tuesday in Washington.
In the announcement of the presidency, it is said that the parties will discuss the bilateral partnership between Kosovo and the United States, for the support to Kosovo in strategic sectors, including the economy and defense.
“At the meeting, President Osmani will request the continuation of American support for strengthening Kosovo’s international position, including membership in international organizations. She will also inform Secretary Blinken about the steps taken by Kosovo in the advancement of the Euro-Atlantic journey, as well as about the active engagement of Kosovo’s institutions in the direction of implementing reforms in the field of the rule of law”, it was said in the announcement of the presidency. .
Referring to Kosovo earlier, Blinken said that Kosovo’s independence and sovereignty are irreversible, and that there must be persistence to build democratic and inclusive institutions.
He has expressed American support for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, considering this process as a way to reach an agreement for the normalization of relations, which should be based on mutual recognition.
The dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, with the mediation of the European Union, started in 2011.
