The Montenegrin parliament is expected to decide on Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic’s proposal to oust government number 2 Dritan Abazovic, thanks to whose party the ruling coalition was formed after the election.
After that, lawmakers in the neighboring country will also have to consider a no-confidence motion against the government filed by the black-and-white coalition, which is part of the executive, as well as opposition lawmakers.
Last night, Krivokapic filed a request for parliament to convene for an extraordinary session on February 3rd, in order to take a decision on his proposal to remove Abazovic and appoint Finance Minister Milojko Spajic to his post.
The announcement came just hours after the Abazovic Bridge Civic Movement announced that it had sent a motion of no confidence in Krivokapic’s government to parliament.
The initiative is signed by members of the “Black on White” coalition, the Bridge Movement and the Citizens’ League CIVIS, as well as the opposition parties Social Democratic Party, Social Democrats, Bosniak Party, Albanian List, Albanian Coalition and part of the President’s Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic.
Ura said that the initiative will show whether the current government has the support of the majority of deputies, but also for the proposed model for the creation of a minority government.
Bridge and CIVIS on January 17th unveiled their proposal to establish a minority government as a model for overcoming the political crisis in Montenegro. The votes of 41 deputies are required for the dismissal of the Government of Montenegro.
With the support of Djukanovic’s party, which has 30 deputies in the Montenegrin Parliament, the Bridge Movement can secure a sufficient number of votes for a no-confidence motion against the Government.
