Prime Minister Edi Rama describes the “Open Balkans” as an initiative that will help the region develop, but “without forgetting the past.”
We are meeting today for the first time at an Open Balkans summit since the war in Ukraine began. The war in Ukraine makes the “Open Balkans” a greater necessity than it was before the war began. But we did not wait for the war to know that there is a history between Serbia and Russia, that there is a conflict between Serbia and Kosovo. “We want to move towards the future, without closing our eyes to unresolved problems.”
“The Open Balkans” belongs to the people who benefit from the initiative, said the Albanian Prime Minister, in his speech in Ohrid.
“The Open Balkans is important for the people, for the children who tomorrow will take the fate of the country into their own hands. “It’s neither mine nor Vuici ,’s nor Kovaçevski… it’s the people, the Albanian families, the Albanian farmers.”
