SMI MP, Erisa Xhixho, in her analysis of the work of President Ilir Meta, says that the head of state, who leaves office on July 24, has served national interests and not the interests of the majority.
Invited to “Top Story”, to the accusations in the studio that Ilir Meta has damaged his place during his work as head of state, Xhixho responds with the argument:
“When the analysis is done, it is said what damage the country has brought, what violations. The institution is analyzed based on the decisions it makes. There have been decisions that have betrayed national interests, there have been decisions that have ensured public safety.
The debate is whether the next President of the Republic will be a person who will approve everything of the majority or will be there to act in the public interest..
While the lawyer Plarent Ndreca says that the competencies of the President have been misunderstood. The president should be stripped of any political function or personal position, the lawyer explains.
“Therefore, the President of the Republic is foreseen that he should not hold any party function. Not without purpose. He leaves any party function, because where he is he no longer represents his own person, he no longer represents his political or personal conviction, he no longer represents what he desires. He represents national unity and has only one competence regarding the decision-making of the majority: the return of laws to parliament when he deems that they are not in accordance with the constitution, but he is not a defender of the constitution, this is a big misunderstanding. The defender of the constitution is the Constitutional Court”.
