Model Alina Yoga could be jailed for the outrage she has caused among locals after posing naked, squeezing her chest behind a sacred tree on the island of Bali, authorities announced.
Following the posting of the photos on Instagram, the Russian model could be jailed for up to six years for ‘immoral’ poses on the 700-year-old sacred tree known locally as ‘kayu putih’.
In the contested photos she is seen leaning on the bare trunk of the tree trunk as she turns her head to look at the camera.
The images were also seen by local entrepreneur Niluh Djelantik who called on local police to intervene in her imprisonment and fine of up to $ 70,000, under the country’s anti-pornography laws.
Djelantik said immigration officials are looking for the social media influencer.
The sacred tree is located in the Babakan Temple on the Indonesian tourist island of Bali which is considered sacred by the locals, hence the images have caused outrage in public.
The model later removed the compromising photo and posted an apology saying she did not know she had offended people’s feelings.
In the video of the apology, she was seen dressed and praying at the foot of the tree, as she commented: “I apologize to the people of Bali and Indonesia, I am sorry for my actions.”
She added: “I am very ashamed, I did not want to offend anyone because I had no knowledge of this place.”
Ranefli local police spokesman Dian Candra confirmed that Alina had voluntarily surrendered to police and that her case would be processed, but did not mention possible sentences for her.
According to reports, the Russian beauty could be charged with spreading pornography, under the country’s harsh laws on the subject.
