Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged Western governments to supply his country with aircraft, tanks and missile defense systems.
In an online speech late at night, he said heavy weapons that could protect freedom in Europe were accumulating dust by standing in stocks.
Zelensky complained that Russian planes could not be shot down with machine guns.
“What is NATO doing?” Is it being run by Russia? What do they expect? 31 days have passed. “We demand only 1% of what NATO has, nothing more,” he added.
The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Eduard Heger, confirmed to the BBC that his country was ready to send its arsenal of Soviet-made S-300 air defense missiles to Ukraine if a replacement could be provided.
