Police have provided details about the operation codenamed ‘Aids’, in the framework of which 1950 kg of undeclared medicines were seized in the Port of Durrës.

According to the police, the medicines seized in the Port of Durrës were loaded in a warehouse for the collection of humanitarian aid in Florence, Italy in order to transport them to Italy. The persons involved in this scheme had stated that the medicines were humanitarian aid for an association in the city of Lezha.

Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Specialists, in cooperation with the Customs Investigation Specialists at the Durrës Customs Branch, stopped for control a vehicle inside which was a quantity of medical drugs loaded in a warehouse for the collection of humanitarian aid in Florence, Italy , in order to transport them to Albania, claiming that they are humanitarian aid for an association in the city of Lezha.
The materials were handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance in Durrës against the citizens AB and AP, as suspects for committing the criminal offenses “Smuggling of licensed goods” and “Abuse of duty”.
