As Ukraine enters the 4th week of Russian occupation, President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his call for talks with Russia to stop the war.
Zelensky said that although “negotiations are not easy, they are necessary because they concern the lives of millions of people.”
“I am sure that the negotiations are not easy, but they are important because we are talking about people’s lives. Ukraine has always been in favor of a peaceful solution, and we are more interested than ever in peace. Because every life, every destroyed family is important to us. “We know very well that Russia has great military power, missiles and bombs, but I want to ask the citizens of Russia, do the words child, mother and father make more sense to you?”
The parties have been negotiating for days, but there are still no concrete results.
Moscow says it is close to an agreement on Ukraine’s neutral status, but Kiev negotiators said their terms, which include an immediate ceasefire, have not changed.
Ukrainian negotiator Mykhailo Podolyak says Russia is trying to “provoke tension in the media” with its statements on the talks.
