The Tirana court has decided to release from prison 34 detainees of the violent protest of January 8 at the headquarters of the Democratic Party.
The prosecutor of the case stated in the courtroom that nothing illegal was found inside the PD headquarters.
The Prosecution requested for 29 persons the measure “Obligation to appear”, while for five others “House arrest”, while the court decided for the majority “Obligation to appear” and for the rest no measure. Among the arrested persons are also citizens from Kosovo.
According to the accusations that have been filed, it turns out that 11 of those arrested are supporters of Basha and 23 others of Berisha.
Albana Vokshi, Klevis Balliu and Oerd Bylykbashi, as supporters of Berisha’s group, were present in the courtroom to attend the hearing.
While Gazment Bardhi went with Lulzim Basha’s side with his group.
On Saturday, the Democratic Party headquarters was violently attacked by Sali Berisha supporters who responded to his call to protest the removal of leader Lulzim Basha.
Protesters tried to force open the armored doors and broke the windows. Police immediately intervened to disperse the crowd, where tear gas was also used.
