For months no one has been allowed to travel outside the UK except for special reasons such as business, education and humanitarian reasons.
This travel ban will currently continue until May 17, but the British government is clearly suspicious of many trips outside of these categories, so it has decided since Monday, March 8, anyone who does not complete a three-page online travel statement on the site government officials, and if he does not have it on the phone or in hard copy, not only will he be fined between deri 200,000 and 6 6,000 and will not be allowed to travel, but he could also be arrested if it results from airport checks that have lied about the reasons for the trip.
Such a move seems to have provoked reactions as the British meanwhile have other difficulties traveling after Brexit, but this move is seen as pointless and more bureaucracy for travelers, the more so as Britain is emerging from the pandemic of data from infections, mortality and mass vaccination show that international travel seems to be available faster than any other European country.
Cyprus even announced the day before that it will allow the vaccinated British to travel to the island for a vacation starting on May 1, and Greece is negotiating the same with Britain.
The government of Boris Johnson argues that this measure is taken to curb the spread of the virus and is a sign of the fact that there are travelers who lie about travel reasons at a time when international travel is banned and many countries have suspended direct flights to British airports.
