If you’ve rummaged through social media, no doubt you may have encountered the term ‘Blue Monday’. But what does this mean?
We are no longer celebrating ‘the most wonderful period of the year’ and ‘New Year, new kismet’, already seems a phrase thrown behind. And that leaves us facing the blue moon.
With the increased spending of the end-of-year holidays that have left us a gap even in our pockets that is combined with the long night and the gray weather, it is no surprise that this Monday will be the saddest day of the year.
But what is the story of the blue moon… If we go back to 2005, Sky Travel used an equation in an attempt to calculate what was the saddest day of the year, using elements such as weather, debt level, time past the holidays and motivation. And the result that resulted was the third Monday of January, which this year fell on January 17th.
But in the meantime, even psychologists add some argument. January can be a depressing time for many as historically there has been an increase in the number of divorces or people leaving work. On the other hand, experts also offer tips on how to make the moon blue, less sad… Among them, a little exercise, nature walks, meetings with friends and family, etc.
