These are the latest photos from the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol overnight.
The steel plant is housing hundreds of civilians, some of whom have been evacuated in recent days, and it is believed there are still several thousand Ukrainian soldiers trapped there.
The soldiers previously told Sky News that they lacked food and ammunition and that many of them are injured. But they have rejected Russian demands for their surrender.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said last week that diplomatic efforts were being made to ensure a safe passage for them, acknowledging that it was very difficult.
Russia has taken most of the southern city, while soldiers in Azovstal are the last to keep the Ukrainian resistance alive.
Yesterday, relatives of the soldiers gathered outside the presidential palace in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, calling for a rescue operation.
