A Hollywood producer and amateur actor has been charged with the slaying of a model and her friend after a drug binge, as well as several unrelated sexual assaults, and there are believed to be other victims, Los Angeles authorities said today. , USA.
Police Chief George Gascón announced that film producer David Pearce has been charged with the model’s murder Christy Giles and her friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzolawhose dead bodies were left outside two different hospitals on November 13, 2021.
37-year-old Pearce was initially arrested at the beginning of the year on charges of rape and sexual assault on four women.
But yesterday investigators said they had found enough evidence to link Pearce to the deaths of Giles and Cabrales-Arzola, as well as the rapes and sexual assaults of three other victims.
“We knew this would be a long investigation, so we started with allegations that could be proven,” Gascón said at the press conference. “Many had to do with giving and using hard drugs.”
“The Los Angeles police worked hard because they knew we were dealing with a murder and now the charges have been confirmed,” Gascón added.
In addition to the two murders, Pearce faces assault charges in several other incidents, which occurred continuously from August 2010 to November 2021.
The gruesome allegations include three counts of rape, two counts of penetration with a foreign object and torture of women.
The accused is suspected of supplying prohibited substances and permitted drugs to Giles e Cabrales-Arzola, and now faces up to 120 years in prison if convicted.
Pearce’s defense lawyer said: “All the charges are based on flimsy evidence, they are based on the premise that ‘where there’s smoke there’s fire’, but they haven’t found the fire yet.”
Pearce’s colleague, the 42-year-old actor Brandt Osbornhas been charged as an accomplice in crimes on at least two occasions.
Investigators said Pearce and Osborn, along with a third person, a set designer Michael Ansbach — had met Giles and Cabrales-Arzola at a party in Los Angeles on Nov. 13 and then went to Pearce’s house on Olympic Boulevard.
Two masked men in a Toyota Prius then dumped the girls’ bodies, one near Culver City Hospital and the other in Cabrales-Arzola west of Los Angeles.
Cabrales-Arzola died on Nov. 24, a few days before her 27th birthday, her family said.
A photo of Cabrales-Arzola between Ansbach and Pearce at the infamous party has been released to the media.
Police said among the testimonies were those of actors Alexandra Creteau and David Murrietta Jr., who work with Osborn, who told them they had a party with women and later disposed of their bodies.
The coroner said Giles died of an overdose of cocaine, fentanyl and ketamine, and Cabrales-Arzola also died of organ failure from cocaine.
The incidents have been classified as homicides.
Pearce will appear in court on July 11.
Ansbach, 47, has been released on bail pending charges.
