After the publication of the harmonized price index by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, the chairman of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, reacted by saying that he accused the executive of incompetence in managing the situation by standing only as a spectator.
“Kosovo is facing the worst wave of unaffordable prices in its history. “According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics – the report published today – for only one year, the prices of the most basic food products and services have reached new records in the country”, wrote Abdixhiku.
He stressed that flour has risen in price by 29%, bread by 17%, oil by 46%, sugar by 23%, potatoes by 24%, tomatoes by 30%, oil and gasoline by almost 30%, and electricity – without subsidies – from 85-104%.
“Prices have increased for only 1 year. This enormous increase, unprecedented so far, puts Kosovars in a crisis of daily intolerance. In the face of this crisis, the Kurti Government has abandoned its duties. At the peak of growth, she continues to be just a spectator. Looks at crises equally with every citizen. No fiscal measures, no government policy, no development package undertaken so far. Governance incompetence costs. “The inability of this Government costs a lot”, continued Abdixhiku.
According to him, public policy must be alive and development visions must be big and bold. “Hardening in dry rhetoric, sooner or later brings crisis. “And with inflationary prices like these, this country is already entering a crisis,” Abdixhiku concluded.
