The meeting of the PD parliamentary group ended after about 6 hours of debates and discussions as most demanded the resignation of Lulzim Basha from the post of PD leader. They demand this move after the deep defeat suffered by the DP in the March 6 elections where it did not win any municipalities and was ranked as the third force in 5 municipalities.
Lulzim Basha has stated that he is ready for a solution, even to take steps back, but Berisha’s decision is expected. It remains to be seen whether they will decide to back down to pave the way for the Democrats to unite.
The other proposal of the Democratic group is the establishment of a joint group for the unification of the party, as well as other proposals such as the organization of elections with a focus on rebuilding the trust and unification of the Democrats.
The proposals will also be discussed with the college of mayors, the presidency and the National Council, to get their opinion.
Mayor Luzim Basha in the meeting with the Democratic group this Saturday stated that he is ready to take any responsibility for the loss of the March 6 elections.
According to him, a solution must be found to serve the Democrats and not his or Sali Berisha’s personal interests.
