Three girls working for a television station in Afghanistan have been shot dead in the latest tragedy of targeted killings.
Reports say the three girls, aged 18 to 20, were killed in two separate but coordinated attacks, while a fourth was seriously injured.
Police said they had arrested the leader of the attackers, saying he had links to Taliban groups.
A wave of killings has rocked the country recently, involving journalists, activists and other social media figures.
The girls who lost their lives had just finished high school and worked at the private Enikas TV, said its principal Zalmai Latifi.
The Associated Press reported that Mursal Wahidi was attacked on his way home, while the other two girls, identified only as Shahnaz and Sadia, were killed in another incident, also returning home.
“They are dead. “All three were returning home on foot when they were shot,” Latifi told AFP.
The fourth injured girl was taken to hospital, where she is fighting for her life. Police said they are looking for four attackers.
Enikas TV said that out of ten women at work, four have already been killed, including presenter Malalai Maiwand, who was shot dead in December. The so-called Islamic State took responsibility for the latter.
