Thoma Jano has been reconfirmed for another 2-year term as Deputy Attorney General. after the end of his first term, as he was the only candidate who expressed interest.
The Deputy Prosecutor General is elected from among the prosecutors of the General Prosecution and must have at least 10 years of experience as a prosecutor in the General Prosecution.
According to the official announcement, in support of Decision no. 218, dated 23.12.2019 of the General Prosecutor and in accordance with article 148 / b, letter “dh” of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania and article 39 point 6 of law no. 97/2016, “On the organization and functioning of the Prosecution in the Republic of Albania”, the procedure for the election of the Deputy General Prosecutor was developed after the end of the 2-year mandate of Mr. Thoma Jano, who has held this position during the period 30.12.2019 until 30.12.2021.
“After the announcement of the call for expression of interest by the General Prosecutor, for the position of deputy. The General Prosecutor, in the meeting of the General Prosecutor’s Office prosecutors held on December 17, 2021, was re-elected by unanimous vote the candidacy of Mr. Thoma Jano for the position of Deputy Attorney General. Mr. Jano is reappointed Deputy Prosecutor General by decision no. 132, dated 30.12.2021 of the General Prosecutor.
