This morning is an interesting morning because yesterday we learned who were the finalists of the European Cup for the first time in our history in Albania. I know most of the participants have organized a European final but I would like to start with this to emphasize the fact that this event was impossible to imagine 2 years ago. The extent of our transformation in this corner of the world after we emerged from dictatorship greatly reflects the extent of the burden today in past history has been less generous with us. And so the path to the future is more difficult, but having said that I believe that the transformation we have seen is unprecedented when it comes to the depth and real impact on countries and people. We have a long way to go, especially for us here in Albania, where history has assigned us a very difficult isolation, and yet the degree of transformation that Albania has experienced is very great. Meanwhile, as I see it, the possibilities of today are very great. This initiative is something that is added to the increasing number of development initiatives in the framework of peace, cooperation and in a period where there are extraordinary opportunities to seek and secure. What is happening today in Europe, in Ukraine, is an extraordinary lesson for all of us, to continue on the path of strengthening the peace of cooperation to avoid falling into the traps of the past. The lesson of this war is precious to all of us. An important moment in our history, to move forward, doing everything we can, to build as many new bridges of interaction, interaction, between peoples, and states.
On the other hand it is important to do everything to make this collaboration an added value, there is no doubt that we are better today than before, but together we are still losing a lot of our potential to make each other’s lives much more good. We are too small in the region to demand a change that will make people feel equal in the EU, but by joining forces ideas work we are not so small, the space we can create can be much more attractive to large actors. We are all in the process of integrating into the EU which we have learned is not easy. As we speak, Albania is in a very strange situation, hostage, of a deadlock between Macedonia and Bulgaria. It is one of those situations that only the EU can create and has no experience on how to deal with being held hostage to a dispute between two other countries. We need to move forward, not lose patience.
