A small number of Albanians exercised their right to vote in Serbia on Sunday.
Yet those who voted say they are waging war on assimilation.
About 6 thousand Albanians have left the voter lists due to the passivity of the settlement. In Serbia’s parliamentary and presidential elections, Albanians boycotted the latter. They did not get the ballot for president. This is because according to them the head of state does not represent them.
In the polling stations in Presevo and Bujanovac, these Albanian-majority municipalities were seen a small number of citizens voting, about 20 percent of those registered. While, it was said that the passivation of their settlements is affecting to have fewer voters and they were invited to vote en masse.
Albanians living in Serbia ran on two lists in the parliamentary elections, that of the Coalition of United Albanians led by Shaip Kamberi and the Alternative of Shqipërim Arifi. Kamber’s list boycotted the presidential vote, while Arifi also voted in the presidential election.
Many Albanians in the Presevo Valley did not exercise their right to vote, Kosovo Serbs organized and traveled by bus to Serbia to vote in the parliamentary and presidential elections.
