American ‘bodybuilding’ champion Cedric McMillan has died at the age of 44, according to reports, from heart problems, complications of Covid-19 and a bicycle accident.
McMillan, a former U.S. Army veteran, was a professional bodybuilder and in 2017 received the prestigious ‘Arnold Classic’ award.
His death was confirmed by the sponsor ‘Black Skull USA’, but the exact cause of death has not been made public.
This is the third death of a well-known bodybuilder in the US in the last 12 months.
“We are sorry to announce that our friend and brother @cedricmcmillan has passed away today,” Black Skull USA wrote on social media. “We will miss Cedric very much as an athlete, friend, friend and father.”
In a November 2021 interview with Generation Iron Network, McMillan said he “almost died” from heart problems he had gone through over the summer.
By the end of 2020, he had no longer managed to compete from heart problems, Covid-19 and a bicycle crash he had suffered.
McMillan became a professional ‘bodybuilder’ in 2009, and won a series of competitions that culminated in 2017 with the Arnold Classic Award, named after former bodybuilder actor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Three other ‘bodybuilders’ died last year in the US. Among them were George Peterson, 37, who died in October of heart problems, and Shawn Rhoden, who died of a heart attack in November.. / BBC /
