A US congressional delegation met Saturday in Kiev with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They promised continued support in this country’s fight against Russia.
The chairman of the Armed Services Committee in the House of Representatives, Adam Smith, was part of the American delegation. This marks the latest visit to Ukraine by high-level American officials.
“The United States, along with our allies and partners around the world, has stood by Ukraine by providing economic, military, and humanitarian assistance“, it was said in a statement of the American delegation.
“We will continue to support President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people in the most effective way possible as they continue their courageous stand.“, they added.
On Wednesday, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that Washington will send four more high-mobility missile systems to Ukraine, bringing the total of such systems sent to Kiev to 16. But in the statement of the American legislators, no such thing was mentioned.
Meanwhile, in an interview for Radio Free Europe, lawmaker Adam Smith said that Washington and its allies were ready to deliver new missile systems to Kiev. / Voice of America
