President Joe Biden made it clear to Ukrainian counterpart Volomir Zelensky that the United States believes Russia can invade Ukraine in February.
National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horne told reporters that Biden “has said this publicly and we have been warning him for months.”
About 100,000 Russian troops are stationed along the border with Ukraine, and Biden believes that when the ground freezes, they can attack from the north of Kiev, two officials inside the case told the Associated Press. Sources said that Putin has troops on hand but also quite heavy equipment, so he will want optimal soil conditions to cross into Ukraine.
