The Ministry of Education and Sports and the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) have signed an agreement for the implementation of the project “Artificial Intelligence for Youth”
The Artificial Intelligence program, which is being implemented in more than 11 countries around the world, will start piloting in Albania, with the aim of including all high schools.
This project aims to increase the skills related to technology and artificial intelligence to Albanian students, aged 13 to 19 years.
In her speech, the Minister of Education and Sports, Evis Kushi expressed her gratitude to the Albanian-American Development Foundation for the close cooperation and the important contribution it gives in the field of education in Albania.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of AADF, Mr. Michael Granoff said that through this program will give the opportunity to Albanian youth to learn the technology of Artificial Intelligence through a curriculum built by Intel Corporation, which is one of the largest technology companies in the world.
The piloting of the program will start in the school year 2022-2023 in five public institutions, where groups will be created that will conduct classes for Artificial Intelligence, after school hours, as extracurricular activities at the selected educational institution. There will also be two private groups outside the schools.
During this pilot phase, 140 students are expected to benefit from the project curriculum, while it will carry out over 160 hours of training for teachers and their certification.
In private extracurricular groups a more advanced curriculum will be developed, where students will have the opportunity to be trained for a period of 6 to 8 months, while in public institutions the project will be developed over a period of 1 to 2 years.
