Australia announced it would open its borders to vaccinated foreign tourists after nearly two years of closure.
“Vaccinated tourists and all Australian visa holders will be able to enter the country from February 21,” said Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
The country closed its borders to everyone except citizens and permanent residents, with a few exceptions, in March 2020. “You need to be vaccinated with both doses to come to Australia. This is the rule. “Everyone has to respect this rule,” Morrison said.
Clearly referring to the recent controversial expulsion of tennis player Novak Djokovic, Morrison said “the decision was a very clear message… these are the conditions to enter Australia”.
