Basha convenes the party leadership today, the violence exercised on January 8 will be discussed

The news was confirmed by the general secretary, Gazment Bardhi, according to whom, the meeting will have as agenda “unprecedented violence exercised against all members of the party organs and the headquarters of the DP during the January 8 protest.”

“Today at 18:30, at the request of the Chairman of the Party, the Presidency of the Party will convene, with the agenda “Discussion on the situation created after the unprecedented violence against all members of the Party organs and the headquarters of the DP during the protest of 8 Januaryt ”, it is said in Bardhi’s message.

The January 8 protest was called by former DP leader Sali Berisha to take control of the party headquarters. He argued that the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha was “fired” from this post, through an intra-party referendum held in December last year.

The protesters tried to enter the PD headquarters, but a few hours after the start of the protest, the headquarters was surrounded by police forces, who with the help of water and tear gas pumps managed to remove the protesters from the courtyard of the headquarters.

The capital’s prosecutor’s office cordoned off the area as a crime scene, and for several hours judicial police officers documented the acts of violence.

Meanwhile, several dozen people were escorted to police stations during the afternoon.

The organizers of this protest, which had mostly mobilized young people and teenagers in violent acts, did not express any distancing from the violence exercised against the PD headquarters, and even stated that they will protest again.

They left without leaving any door or window the headquarters of the Democratic Party, which they call the house of freedom and democracy, after hitting it with all the strong objects, iron-clad devices of various kinds.

US, European and OSCE diplomats condemned the violence and urged organizers to reduce protest tensions.

Saturday’s protest marked the culmination of a move Berisha made to President Basha, following the latter’s decision to leave him out of the parliamentary group, due to the United States decision declaring the former prime minister non grata.
