The Democratic Party on Monday filed in court changes to the statute approved by the July 17th Assembly.
The change in the Democratic Party’s rules of operation was proposed as a solution to the crisis within it, following the loss in the last parliamentary elections and the re-election of Basha at the helm of the party in a process contested by his opponents in the party.
The National Assembly of the Democratic Party approved the changes in the Statute of the Party, which were proposals of the leader Lulzim Basha. He proposed 11 changes, including expanding the presidency to other members and increasing the number of secretaries.
The leader of the Democrats also established the District Coordination Council for electoral organizations. Basha had no proposal regarding the mandate of the mayor.
On the other hand, the Re-establishment Commission, elected by the Assembly on December 11, this Tuesday is expected to submit to the court the changes made in the Statute of the Democratic Party.
The amendments to the Statute were proposed to the Assembly convened by Berisha, to 4,935 delegates but also to the militants present, MP Oerd Bylykbashi.
A fundamental change of the statute according to Berisha’s people has to do with the article that any act of the DP bodies undertaken before the entry into force of this Statute and that is contrary to its provisions, is automatically repealed with the entry into force of the Statute . So Berisha wants to reverse Basha’s decision to expel him.
The document states that after the Assembly for the next 4 months there will be a Temporary Re-establishment Commission that takes over the executive leadership of the DP until the final constitution of the governing bodies. The commission consists of 15 members elected by the National Assembly.
The Statute also provides a special article for the election process. The process starts with the creation of new bodies and is preceded by a process of new memberships and verification of existing membership.
MP Bylykbashi said that the introduction of the referendum, the primary, but also the strengthening of collegial bodies are some of the points of the new statute of the DP. Another point relates to the sanctioning in the statute of the fact that if you lose the election regardless of the reason, you leave.
