The opening of the Winter Olympics will take place on February 4 at Beijing National Stadium as China seeks to divert attention from coronavirus spread concerns and human rights history.

The leader of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, are some of the leaders of the global institutions that will attend the ceremony.
There will be few spectators at the opening, although the number is not yet known.
Tickets have not been on sale to the public due to the pandemic.
Beijing becomes the first host city of the North and Winter Olympics.
But Beijing’s choice to host the Games has been criticized for its lack of natural snow.
Outdoor events will all be held almost in artificial snow.
Despite the coronavirus situation, International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach sent a positive message shortly before the opening of the ceremony.
