In front of thousands of his Democratic supporters, Lulzim Basha spoke about the declaration ‘non grata’ of former Prime Minister Berisha.
In his speech at the National Assembly of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha said that he took the decision to exclude Berisha from the parliamentary group in order not to make his drama, a drama of the Democrats.
“After his proclamation non grata for major corruption and obstruction of democracy, we have faced an unprecedented, unprincipled campaign. We faced a campaign on the verge of a civil war, with an arsenal of tools from the dirtiest, from the lowest methods of a small but noisy group to force the DP into a conflict with the US, to force the DP to become a shield of Sali Berisha’s personal problem.
It was up to me to take on the weight of that decision, to turn into lightning bolts of accusations that flowed and flow like a river, it was up to me to tie myself to the masts and close my ears with wax, not to hear the mermaid song, which today are a large well-paid orchestra, conducted to denigrate me and my team, which had only one function, avoiding the truth. And the truth is very simple. The drama that fell on Berisha had to be extinguished by creating a drama about the Democrats, disturbing their souls hurt by the injustice of April 25, in the interest of one person, and those who plot his anger, thus damaging the Democratic Party .
But I could not accept that, we can not allow that, because the Democratic Party is nobody’s property, but it is the property of the Democrats, who want only one thing, victory. And victory can never come by having a non grata in our ranks, nor by turning the whole party into non grata, for the sake of the personal destiny of a person whoever he is. So what happened after September 9 is changing us. “And today we choose to change for the better,” said Basha.
