Durres, hit by the earthquake and accusations of links between crime and politics, voted for the Socialists again.
On a ballot, the vote against Emiriana Sakos, there was also a dedication to her. Sako was involved in the reconstruction process, inaugurating the house three days before the election, although Durrës residents felt that not enough had been done.
Many Lushnja residents had this concern in the city, where the former mayor and 20 municipal employees are in prison on suspicion of corruption. But on Sunday his former subordinate Eriselda Sefa, won by a wide margin. In Rrogozhina prison, a business card over a cup of coffee was the clearest sign that the Socialists had quietly taken care not to lose any votes.
In Shkodra, Berisha’s candidate won and for the first time in its history, the DP did not get any votes from a ballot box. In Shkodra, Durres, Vora, Debar and Lushnja, the Democratic Party came in third. Berisha thus achieved the other goal:
“We achieved the goal of being a second force “said Ardian Muka.
A sharp example that strengthens the dilemma, what is the real opposition today? Berisha’s candidate in Debar, also the second ranked, says what many people think.
“Basha has lost, everyone understands what the real opposition is“, Said Kryemadhi.
For many Democrats, Monday has been a difficult day.
“Terrible day “said Ervin Salianji.
Basha himself thinks that we all think that he has never lost.
But today this call no longer comes from critics, but from his close associates.
But there are many who think that the problem is not that the Democratic Party has dropped to third place, but to fourth place. Sunday’s election figures show that where she won the majority, her votes were more than the combined votes of the DP and Berisha.
The turnout was only 30 percent, which makes you think that the party of abstainers was the third party on Sunday. For Basha, this is a victory, just like the others: only in his notebook.
“People abandon the majority choice“, Said Basha.
But many think that the biggest damage that has been done is the loss of confidence that the opposition may be alternative, and so on Sunday, they chose to continue their normal lives, but not to vote.
