In the election assembly of FSHF, UEFA was present with its vice president Zibi Bonjek who at the end of it, in an interview for Top Channel shows that he has witnessed the changes of recent years of Albanian football.
“I have been present and witnessed the changes of Albanian football especially in the last 5 years and I can say that it has made great progress not only in terms of play but also in terms of infrastructure. Whenever there are elections there are always pressures, and interests of certain people, but here I do not want to go into“, Said Zibi Boniek.
In addition to his position in UEFA, Bonjek is also the honorary president of the Polish Football Federation, the federation which was the initiator of the Russian blockade in football.
“This, war hurts everyone, the situation is dangerous. In particular, the Ukrainian people are suffering the most. I am Polish and as a Polish citizen I can say that we are doing our best to help women and children. We have about 2 million people we are sheltering. But it is better to talk about football which is something that brings people closer, not about war because it is dramatic“, Added Boniek.
Besides Bonjek, Polish football nowadays has another icon, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.
“I was not number 9 like Lewandowski, but he is one and he is probably the best in the world. In my opinion it is him and Benzema. As for the fact that there is not yet a Golden Ball, you should ask those of France Football why they did not give it”.
In Albania, Zibi Bonjek is a very famous name not only for the fact that he played for Juventus, or Roma, but also for the goal he scored in “Qemal Stafa” with his national team.
“For many years I have followed Albanian football for the fact that Albania helped us to go to the World Cup when I played. We won here against Albania 1-0 while Albania had previously beaten Belgium and with this combination gave us the opportunity to go to the World Cup. That’s why I have an affection and I have always followed you. I also followed you to France in Europe. Today I see in Europe that there are many Albanian players and this was inconceivable a few years ago. You are more or less like us Poles because we too are doing everything for football to improve generations, but as if we are getting them ready for others because when they are up to 19 years old the best leave, but at least come back to play with national. Force Albania”.
