Conservative MPs in the UK will vote today on a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who if he loses will step down as prime minister.
If Johnson loses the vote among 359 Conservative lawmakers, he will be replaced in his post as leader and as prime minister.
If he wins, he will likely be safe from another challenge for a year.
“The 15% threshold of the parliamentary party seeking a no-confidence vote against the prime minister has been crossed,” said official Brady outside Parliament on Monday morning.
Voting will take place tonight between 18:00 and 20:00 UK time and a result is expected to be announced shortly thereafter.
Paraprakihst, Foreign Minister Liz Truss has just said she will support Johnson in the vote, citing his leadership over Ukraine.
“He has offered Covid’s recovery and has supported Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. He has apologized for the mistakes made. “Now we have to focus on economic growth,” she wrote on Twitter.
Despite facing serious questions about his leadership at home, Johnson has won praise in Ukraine since the Russian occupation.
