Bread is often the first food to be removed from the diet of people who want to lose extra pounds.

And what’s more, experts add that carbohydrates make meals more satisfying, fuller, and give you energy.

That’s because they supply your body with the same fuel as gasoline for a car.

So eating a sandwich in the morning can be a healthy and delicious part of your weight loss plan.

AgroWeb.org introduces you below to the five common mistakes that people make when choosing the type of bread, which jeopardize the goal of losing weight.

You choose a low fiber bread

Fiber is your friend because it slows digestion, balances blood sugar and helps create an energy deficit needed to burn fat.

Plus, fiber-rich foods keep you fuller for longer, helping you lose weight.

Bread is full of added sugar

Believe it or not, added sugar, including high fructose corn syrup, is found in many store-bought breads.

Unfortunately, this sweet additive has the opposite effect of fiber.

So instead of stabilizing blood sugar, it leads to sudden sugar spikes.

And right after you eat, your blood sugar levels will drop and you’ll find yourself hungrier.

You choose refined bread rather than whole grain bread

White bread and other refined varieties lack fiber and nutrients, which are lost during the processing process.

And in the absence of fiber and nutrients, blood sugar can rise and so can your appetite.

When you buy bread with whole grains, it must say “100% whole grain” or “100% whole wheat” on the label.

You don’t combine bread with healthy fats

If you want to feel full and lose weight, bread goes best with healthy fats.

To help slow digestion and fill you up, pair the bread with chicken, tuna, eggs, hummus, avocado or olive oil.

Eat bread and foods rich in carbohydrates

Do not consume bread with a bunch of foods rich in carbohydrates such as pasta, potatoes, etc.
