British parachutist Dylan Morris Roberts died during an accident in the Italian Alps on Friday. He was 33 years old.
The development comes just a day after an Australian parachutist lost his life in a similar incident, also in the Italian Alps.
Roberts had previously been a parachuting instructor and had come with a group of friends to the frequented mountainous area of Monte Brento in the northern Italian region of Trentinowhere he made his jump from a height of 800m.
He started jumping early in the morning, from a point hit by paratroopers but crashed into the side of the mountain after falling about 200m, witnesses to the accident show.
It is believed that the experienced thrower was not parachuted, although local police were quoted as saying he may have miscalculated his air trajectory.
The mountain guides managed to recover the body of the thrower after being called for help.
Roberts was an experienced skydiver graduating from the British School of Langar, Nottinghamshire.
He also preferred jumping from fixed places like bridges, tall buildings or rocks, in which parachutes are then used to land gently on the ground.
In September 2018, the deceased wrote on Facebook: “The most beautiful memories are when I teach people to parachute, to see happiness in their smiles and faces.”
Roberts’s death comes just a day after the tragedy of 35-year-old Australian Matthew Glen Munting, who died in almost the same circumstances in the Italian Alps.
Munting during his throw, hit a crack in Mount Simone Thursday morning.
He was also very experienced in jumps from fixed locations and is believed to have been in the role of instructor at the time of death.
