The Bucha death toll is still rising as more bodies have been found.
The regional police chief predicted the final number would be large.
Russian forces entered the city in the early days of the war, taking control until they withdrew, under fire from Ukrainian soldiers, late last week.
“There is still no final number of troops,” said Police Chief Andriy Nebitov.
“We are working every day. I have to say there are a lot of people. Especially in the wooded area. In the street. “And we have not seen houses and flats yet,” he added.
He said forensic experts had so far examined 200 bodies mostly from the Bucha region and the neighboring town of Irpin.
Investigators are still working to find out what happened to the victims, their identities, as many undeclared bodies in the city have not yet been confirmed.
Initial investigations show they were shot dead and burned by Russian soldiers, including women and a child.
