Janusz Bugajski, an expert on Western Balkan issues, says that the continuation of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue in an attempt to reach an agreement is just a tendency of Serbia to prevent Kosovo from joining international institutions.
Bugajski has said that this dialogue should be stopped because it is a farce. The American Bugajski said that the attacks on Kosovo police in the north are instigated by Belgrade to destabilize Kosovo.
The attacks of the Kosovo Police in the North of the country were commented by the American expert on international circumstances, Janusz Bugajski, who said that the attacks on the Kosovo Police are a deliberate incitement of Serbia to provoke the stability of Kosovo.
“There are three main objectives of the attacks – to try to keep Kosovo unstable, to demonstrate to the EU that Kosovo’s borders remain controversial, and to test the government’s response in Pristina. At some point, Vucic’s government may try to escalate the attacks to further test the EU and NATO response. “A weak reaction or one that requires some new diplomatic compromises will be seen as a victory for Belgrade,” he said, according to public television.
The diametrically opposed positions of the parties in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Bugajski says, are evidence that this dialogue has already failed and is turning into a farce. According to him, the dialogue should be stopped, as it is being used only as a reason to make Kosovo clumsy to join international organizations.
“It should be clear to all negotiators that there is no compromise between Kosovo’s independence and non-independence. As Serbia will not accept Kosovo’s final status as an independent state, the dialogue must be stopped. “It is simply used as a cloud of smoke from Belgrade to freeze Kosovo’s progress in international institutions and to generate conflicts,” he said. “Furthermore, Belgrade should be sanctioned for supporting the genocidal regime in Russia and for opposing EU policies.?”
The last meeting in Brussels to reach a new agreement on license plates had failed, as the Serbian side had rejected the new agreement.
Bugajski says that through dialogue, Serbia is trying to stop Kosovo from becoming a member of international institutions.
According to him, the attack on police officers in northern Kosovo is an attempt to destabilize it by Belgrade.
