The picture shows the sketches at the opening of the sensational trial of Nicolas Zepeda, the killer accused of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Narumi Kurosaki in 2016, in Besancon, France.
The accused denied the murder of his girlfriend Narumi Kurosaki who disappeared in 2016, in the difficult investigation that has spread to three continents.
The victim’s mother and sister were among those present at the hearing.
“I want to say that I did not kill Narum, I deny the accusations with all my might,” Zepeda told a French court, speaking in Spanish with an interpreter.
Kurosaki, then an excellent scholarship student, came to Besancon city in the summer of 2016 to learn the language, and disappeared on December 4th.
Her ex-boyfriend Zepeda, with whom she had split a year earlier, was the last person to see her alive.
Prosecutors say Zepeda failed to accept the couple’s separation, so he had come to Besancon to kill Kurosaki and dump his body in the Jura forest area.
So far no trace of Kurosaki’s body has been found.
As they traveled from Tokyo to be present at the trial, Kurosaki’s mother and younger sister were seen barely holding back tears.
The family’s lawyer said they wanted to return home “with their daughter’s body” to mourn and attend the funeral.
