An adopted teenager, known on the TikTok network has killed himself after he managed to find his biological parents but was rejected for the second time by them, family members announced today.
Liu Xuezhou’s story had become popular on Chinese social media when he posted last month a detailed video of his biological parents searching.
Images on Douyin’s Weibo networks (the latter known as TikTok in Europe) show the 17-year-old asking for public help, showing that he was born between 2004 and 2006 but was sold to another family a few months after his birth.
Tragically his adoptive parents had died when he was just four years old in a horrific fireworks accident and he was sent to live with the family grandparents.
In the letter he also admitted that he had been sexually abused by a teacher when he was younger, about which the man had never told him.
Liu happily announced to his followers in December 2021 the news that he had managed to find his biological family, who at the time were divorced and had each started a new life.
But some time after their reunion he became angry because they refused to pay for an apartment for him, writes the Hong Kong daily, South China Morning Post.
His aunt Chai Mou announced yesterday that the boy has killed himself on a beach in Sanya in Hainan province.
Liu had posted a long essay on social media before the suicide where he said he had been abandoned twice by his rediscovered biological parents.
He testified that he had asked them to buy or rent an apartment for him because he was homeless, but they had refused because they could not afford it.
The sad letter published caused many users to contact the police in Sanya, but as a result he was found dead by people who had seen the video online.
