The citizens of Vlora and the civil society are again in protest today near the flag square in Vlora.
This is the second protest held in Vlora after the one on Sunday, which also took place in Flamur Square.
These protests are aimed at opposing the project that will take place in Flag Square, as according to residents, history is being alienated.
In this project, transparency is required from the residents for public funds as well.
Dozens of citizens have gathered near the independence monument, who had earlier demanded the demolition of a several-storey building built in the historic square.
Their request for the demolition of the building was not fulfilled, but a new project is already being built there, which according to the citizens is a bus station.
“There is a real ruin there, look how it is there, this is the disappearance of the history of a nation. I came to this peaceful rally to protest because we gather here every November 28th and this project is bothering us because it is a very wrong intervention. “They did not ask us at all.” said one of the residents.
Meanwhile, not only citizens from Vlora but also from other cities in Albania are protesting. A citizen from Tirana is also present at the protest, who said that as happened today, many years ago, the Italian occupation, now the Flag Square in Vlora is being occupied again.
“I live in Tirana, we have come to support the patriots of Vlora because their flag square has been occupied. Today is a black day for Albania because on April 7 the fascist occupation took place and now they are occupying it. I call on justice to clean up the rubbish. “
