Lecturer Arlind Qorri announced in “Top Talk” about the protest that will take place tomorrow in the capital and invited citizens to participate to speak out against the increase in prices of basket products.
Citizens are already paying more for the products and services they receive, a situation that is aggravating their pockets more and more every day. We must protest for the reasons why Albania is in this crisis, says the activist of the Political Organization.
“Salbania and in normal conditions is in crisis, it is a country in poverty. Since before the crisis, 10% of citizens have been in absolute crisis, barely have to eat. Imagine how much worse those numbers could be than these galloping prices.
In this sense, we will protest not only to show popular discontent, but to protest the reasons why Albania is in this situation. What are the reasons that year after year, Albania is so much exposed, more than any other country from the effects of the crisis. I remember when I was little people lined up to buy food. “Now they do not queue, there are products, but there is no money to buy them.”
According to the activist, today many Albanians fail to buy milk, oil and other basic foods.
“… Because they do not have enough money, because their salaries are very low, pensions are very low, economic aid is ridiculous. Meanwhile, prices are only rising. “Between April and May, in just one month, food prices have risen by 20-30%, according to real statistics, while real growth could be even greater.”
According to Qorri, the government has not taken measures to cope with the crisis, and even this period in the state budget has more tax revenues.
“The government has more revenue now, while it has thought to subsidize only construction companies. “The crisis will continue and it is not just a product of the crisis, it is a product of mismanagement by the government.”.
He accuses the government of neglecting the situation and inaction to help and subsidize citizens and businesses.
“For the political elite, for the government, assume that nothing is happening. For them it is a normality that continues and is reproduced, they celebrate, they make finals, they promise tourist seasons, as if the situation is normal.
The vast majority of society, the poor people, the middle class, is hit by the crisis. Dissatisfaction is great and growing. After all, when you look at the government, you see nothing of the sort. We in power have people who are lousy in money and that for the fact that they steal from us, in collaboration with other people. “The whole society must unite to oppose them, because they continue to get rich in the midst of the crisis.”
Qorri calls for the gathering of as many citizens as possible in the square, in order for the government to react.
“If you gather 200-300 people, the government will not listen to us. But if we become 10,000 the government will listen to us because it will start to get scared. He will think that then we will become 15,000, 20,000 and so on. So they can put the government shoulder to shoulder behind the wall. As in the student protest at first they are lagging behind, then realized that it was not closing so easily. He fired half of the government.
