The first team, made up entirely of civilians, arrived at the International Space Station, with three businessmen on board who, to experience this rare experience, paid $ 55 million each.
Canadian investor and philanthropist Mark Pathy, US philanthropist Larry Connor and former Israeli Air Force pilot Eytan Stibbe are writing a new page in history as they take off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The crew of this privileged journey also includes NASA veteran astronaut Michael López-Alegría, who has the role of commander.
They set off with a Dragon capsule of billionaire Elon Musk’s Space X company, in the latest key space commercialization event.
The plan is to stay 10 days in space, where they will spend part of their time in scientific, medical and technical research and experiments.
The three wealthy businessmen seem to have a lot in common with the wealthy passengers who do space laps thanks to the services of Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic provided by Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson.
But Axiom Space, which is leading the mission, stressed that the trio will conduct ‘meaningful research’ and are not just “space tourists”, as it is the first time ordinary citizens travel to the International Space Station on a US-made spacecraft.
