What we eat and drink has a direct effect on the human mind and especially when he is old age. At least that is what some scientists think after a study they conducted and published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Through this study it was possible to analyze the genius, food diet and health of over 1,500 people, all British citizens. They have been answering several questionnaires for 10 years, providing ongoing information to researchers. The oldest person in this champion was 77 years old.
They were required to indicate how often and in what quantity they consumed 49 staple foods. Including fresh and dried fruits, raw and boiled vegetables, fish, chicken, meat products, red meat (pork, beef, lamb) cheese, bread, cereals, tea, coffee, beer, cider, wine red and white, champagne and spirits.
Analysis of the data collected shows that cheese and alcohol, especially red wine, are the best memory protection for older people. In addition, to reduce mental problems in old age it is necessary to eat lamb once a week.
Other types of red meat do not give such a good effect. Excessive salt consumption should also be avoided, especially for people at genetic risk for Alzheimer’s disease.
The researchers said they were surprised to learn that daily consumption of cheese and red wine had greatly helped people cope with stress during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Of course, the consumption of alcohol is advisable only in small quantities. As it is known that its excessive use has the opposite effect.
