England is ready to build temporary field hospitals to cope with the wave of a record number of Covid-19 infections, especially after the rapid spread of the Omicron variant and the growing need for beds, the National Health Service (NHS) announced.
The NHS has identified the sites where the hospitals will be built, starting this week, with new facilities designed to house around 100 patients: at the locations of the city’s eight hospitals, including London, Bristol and Leeds.
Extra beds are designed for patients recovering from the disease, including those who no longer have Covid-19, to free up space and staff to assist coronavirus patients.
