Norway has decided to significantly lift all remaining restrictions on Covid-19, after Sweden and Denmark.
Having already substantially released the rules almost two weeks ago, now almost all remaining restrictions need to be lifted, including the mandatory use of a face mask and the one-meter social distance rule.
“The distance between us is no longer necessary,” said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Oslo, who with a symbolic gesture put the mask back in his jacket pocket.
The pandemic no longer poses a major health threat to most people. The Omicron variant of the coronavirus causes the disease to progress more easily and the vaccinations protect well, he added.
