Sali Berisha advanced the movement to take control of the DP by electing a new DP National Council, with some new approaches but leaving out Basha’s critics and supporters.
The new list of the new National Council presented by Albana Voksi, suggests that we are already dealing with a DP, more open by returning to the council Basha’s ousted as were the two former deputies who did not obey the parliamentary boycott. Muslim Murrizi and Rudina Hajdari. This is just one side of the coin.
Edvin Kulluri, a critical voice towards Basha and Berisha in the Democratic Party, was left out of the council, as was Roland Bejko. But Fatbardh Kadilli the only critical voice in the DP National Assembly was voted to be on the council.
The list of elected members of the National Council, more than an opening of the party with the aim of unification, seems more like a pragmatic movement of Berisha, which brings closer to itself two former ministers and a former deputy minister from the time of his rule.
Two novelty names on the board come from music and medicine. Renis Gjoka singer and doctor Ilir Alimehmeti who with his advice and studies during the pandemic became very popular.
Bardh Spahia, the man who gave Berisha the only victory in the local by-elections on March 6 by taking over the Municipality of Shkodra, has not received the necessary votes to sit in the National Council. But his predecessor Voltana Ademi who helps Spahia win will continue to be a member of the council.
A strong democratic party that Berisha is projecting with his return can not be like that even without the media people in the National Council.
Now that the National Council has been elected, on May 22 it will have to elect the new chairman of the Democratic Party after the dismissal of Enkelejd Alibeaj from the National Assembly. No surprises are expected. Sali Berisha, the old chairman of the Democratic Party, will return as the new chairman.
The only unimportant curiosity remains who will be Namik Dokle of the doctor’s new return, in 2022.
