A German scientist says he is ’99 .9 percent sure ‘that the coronavirus came from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, where the first infections broke out, only to spread as a fatality worldwide.
Dr Roland Wiesendanger, of the University of Hamburg, has published a 100-page paper that presents what he claims to be evidence of an infection leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the city where the pandemic began. The professor says the fact that no animal shelter has been found, laboratory safety concerns and the fact that researchers were involved in controversial research to make viruses more contagious to humans all confirm his view.
His writing came just 10 days after WHO scientists investigating Covid’s origins in Wuhan urged scientists to disprove theories of laboratory leaks, saying the possibility was “extremely impossible.”
“I am 99.9 percent sure that the coronavirus came from the laboratory,” he told the German newspaper ZDF. Among the evidence Dr. Wiesendanger presents is the fact that, despite China’s insistence that detailed research be conducted, no natural shelter for the virus has yet been found. The closest version of Covid found in the wild is a coronavirus found in bats living in a mine 1,200 miles away from Wuhan, meaning they are unlikely to carry the virus to the city.
