To avoid clashes between the 34 detainees of the January 8 protest, the Court, which later released them all, ordered the two groups to be treated separately.
The first to arrive were 11 supporters of Lulzim Basha.
“The first floor will come now.” The lawyer’s joke means the protesting party. Out of 23 other detainees, as protesters and supporters of Sali Berisha, the Prosecution admitted that only 18 of them belonged to this group.
But the detainees on the first and second floors of the Democratic headquarters were not only represented by lawyers, but also by political groups, namely the re-establishment group on the one hand and the DP general secretary on the other.
Even politicians shunned each other. All Democrats were sent home, as were 5 Kosovars who were not on either side and turned out to have been wrongly arrested.
For a few hours both right-wing camps claimed before the court that they were right in the January 8 protest and that the other side had used violence.
“The prosecution admitted that for the 11 detainees we represented, there was no evidence,” said Indri Sefa.
“The 18 protesting Democrats were proven to have been arrested illegally,” said Albana Vokshi.
