MP Enkelejd Alibeaj demands that citizens living abroad be included in a thirteen-member constituency, in order to have their representatives in the Albanian parliament.
In his speech at the National High Level Conference on “Voting from abroad, the time is now”, which is being held this Tuesday by the CEC in cooperation with the OSCE Presence in Tirana, Alibeaj explains how the diaspora should vote, according to his:
“The diaspora must vote with the right to their representation identified. The diaspora will have to be a special constituency. Be the ones who vote and show who their representatives are. We have 12 constituencies, we will have to have 13, even the diaspora. So their representatives must be identified in the parliament hall.
Second, to have the right to vote regarding their last residence in Albania.
Third, the guarantees! Mail voting for anyone who has seen what happened inside the vote is unacceptable. The standard for electronic identification should be the same is for the diaspora vote guarantee”.
Speaking about vote theft and election manipulation in the country, Alibeaj says that such a phenomenon risks being even more visible abroad.
“The vote in this is being stolen, blackmailed, manipulated, the state with a full burden to destroy the fundamental right of Albanians. And this within the country. Imagine what might happen outside. “First, we have to face reality.”
