The High Judicial Council has held the next consultation in Gjirokastra regarding the new court map.
Previously, the Saranda and Gjirokastra Bar Associations have opposed this new project as unfounded in local specifics and as a superficial project that would only increase the costs of justice workers, balance the economic chain by removing experts and lawyers. According to Tahir Novi, one of the lawyers with decades of experience in Gjirokastra, the citizens themselves are directly affected by this reorganization.
Even the lawyers from Saranda think that the growing demographic trend, the presence of the tourist market as well as the geographical distances for the inhabitants of the edges of the country have not been taken into account.
Deputy himself. President of the High Judicial Council Mr. Maksim Qoku concluded that the suggestions of interest groups will be evaluated but the new map itself according to him is a product of the criteria of the current law. The study that preceded the map, according to him, has considered a complexity of criteria and in the end the goal is the efficiency and the best quality of judicial services.
Lawyers and experts have warned the appeal of the project in the Administrative Court as well as the temporary suspension of licenses if the project will go for implementation. According to the new court map, only the first instance courts in each district center will remain active and every other instance of the judiciary will be relocated to Tirana, while a second administrative court is planned in Lushnje in function of the South of the country.
