The main pillar of the head of state’s defense was to question the legitimacy of the Assembly that fired Ilir Meta as President. Lawyer Bledar Dervishaj brought to attention the fact that in the transitional period the Assembly has no legitimacy to conduct investigative activities.

The President’s defense had prepared a 140-page file, while the constitutional judges had over 70 questions for the head of state’s lawyers who took 48 hours to prepare. The request postponed the court hearing to February 7.

On June 9 last year, with 104 votes in favor, the Assembly of the last Legislature decided to dismiss the President, and now a constitutional decision is needed for Meta to be dismissed.
