The draft resolution to deal with the consequences caused by the price increase has been published.
Assembly of the Republic of Albania:
Considering the general increase of prices, where only during February the prices in general have increased by 3.9%, and especially the prices of the products of the basic consumer basket have increased by 6.9%;
Considering the significant increase in fuel prices, which has produced a 10.4% increase in transport prices, and with effect domino entails an increase in all other prices;
Noting that the measures announced by the government are completely insufficient for the situation in which Albanian families and businesses are, as well as the fact that the measures are part of the government program, and not dictated by the current situation;
Appreciating the demands made by representatives of civil society, business, farmers, articulated during the protests of recent days;
Joining the concern of citizens and businesses for the uncertainties created for the future, economy, employment and family well-being;
SEEKING:
Reduction to 6% VAT on basic basket goods, consistent proposal of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group;
Immediate suspension of the turnover tax and its return to the levels of 8 years ago, at the rate of 7 lek per liter from 27 lek / liter currently, eliminating the tax Raman on fuel;
Immediate reduction of central government operating expenditures by at least 25% of the budget planned for this item for the 2022 budget year;
Immediate doubling of economic assistance for all families in need and not just their financial treatment for a short period of 3 months;
Immediate increase of pensions with double the indexation foreseen by the government itself, starting from April 1, 2022;
Raising the minimum wage to 36,000 (thirty-six thousand) ALL per month starting from April 1, 2022;
Immediate suspension of budget payments for PPPs and concessions, especially those which are under investigation by the Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) for corrupt activities;
Increasing subsidies to farmers in the amount of 100 million euros / year in order to increase production and reduce their costs, to make Albanian products competitive in the region;
Conducting an in-depth and comprehensive investigation by the Competition Authority, as well as taking urgent measures in accordance with law no. 9121, dated 28.7.2003 “For the Protection of Competition”;
Reporting by the Competition Authority before the Assembly of Albania within a period of 30 days from the date of adoption of this resolution, regarding the conclusions of the investigation, the measures taken and their implementation in practice.
